Fire Prevention Bureau

The Fire Prevention Bureau is responsible for fire prevention duties, including but not limited to code enforcement, fire inspections, public education, keeping of records, and other activities whose ultimate purpose is the prevention of fire and the reduction of life and property loss from fire and explosion within the boundaries of the Utica Community Fire Protection District.

The District has adopted updated fire prevention standards effective June 22, 2026. These include the 2024 International Fire Code (IFC) and 2024 NFPA 101 Life Safety Code (subject to compatible Illinois OSFM amendments), along with District-specific amendments. All plan reviews are conducted by qualified third-party reviewers, with fees covering actual third-party costs plus a 15% administrative/oversight fee. One- and two-family dwellings are generally exempt from plan review/permitting (except for solar PV systems).
